How to bring Bridgerton’s opulent style into your home (part 1/3)
During uncertain times, such as those we are experiencing now, we tend to don our rose-tinted spectacles and look back with nostalgia to happier times. In the worlds of fashion and interior design, this often this means that a particular zeitgeist’s trends and styles tend to filter into what is de rigueur today.
Well, whether through Netflix’s expert planning or simple happenstance, what a perfectly timed gem Bridgerton has been! Not only has this blockbusting series provide a much-needed escape from reality for those who are – yet again – cooped-up in their homes, but it fuelled our need to hark back to a halcyon era with a visual spectacle of colour, elegance, and opulence.
The world of high fashion had already begun nodding to this opulent styling with catwalks showing corsetry, opulent fabrics, voluminous sleeves, and chiffon layering; now these trends are adorning all arms of online and print media, from Thingymajig’s Blog through to a multi-page spread in Vogue, depicting Phoebe Dynevor and Regé-Jean Page (a.k.a. Daphne and the Duke of Hastings) in the era’s finest.
Whilst there has even been an uptake in would-be passé hobbies, such as needlepoint and cross-stitch, we at Oath Home are interested in how all of this Regency excitement is influencing design in the home.
Over the next two weeks, Oath Home’s Founder and Director,
Anna Allington, will be cherry-picking three items from this trend that can easily be replicated in the home; suggesting a couple of ways to accent your room with Regency style; and showing you what current gems – from our existing stock of sustainable, luxury fabrics can be used to inspire and create similar looks.
